Hi Karen, It is unbelievable that today marks the one year of your diagnosis. Through it all you have been a champ. You have shown all what it means to carry your cross with courage, dignity, acceptance, and grace. As many have said, you are an inspiration – thank you – I pray you continue to find strength to carry on, peace in your heart, and joy in your every day. Happy Easter! |

Hi Karen, Not sure if you remember me, but my wife Lauren and I met you at City of Hope in mid-May – I believe you had just been admitted. Lauren received an autologous Stem Cell Transplant for recurrent Hodgkin’s (not sure if that rings a bell…I was also a big Angels fan, like your husband). In any event, we remember you and have kept you and your family in our thoughts and prayers these past several months. I just stumbled upon your page and am so happy to see that you found a donor and are progressing so nicely. I hope that the months ahead show continued progress and improvement. You are truly an inspiration! Lauren came home from the hospital at the end of May and is improving every week. Her scans/tests so far have been clean and she’s starting to study for her Nurse Practitioner Board exams (not sure if you remember, but she had just finished nursing school when she was diagnosed). Her degree is in adult oncology and she may even look at positions at City of Hope when she feels strong enough to work. Please take care. We wish you continued strength and good health!
